Welcome to my blog!

I was so glad to be retired.  Now I could just enjoy myself.  No more work deadlines.  Meeting friends for lunch and coffee, browsing art galleries. swimming, listening to talks, travelling, the world was my oyster, or very nearly.  Yes, I had it all figured out.  And it started out fairly well.  Much better than expected in fact.  The Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary Tour was well underway.  In November 2012, I flew to London to see them at the O2 and it surpassed expectations. Two weeks later I set off to New York to see them again, this time with a VIP ticket and the promise of a first class spot standing beside the stage.  If only I could do it all again.  Nine months later I was bedridden suffering from benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome and have remained so for 22 months. I hope to share my experiences and thoughts during this very challenging time.
